![]() In laboratory experiments, organo sulfur compounds found in ordinary garlic have been shown to be effective in destroying human glioblastoma cells, a common, fast growing and life threatening type of brain tumor. The study was conducted by researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina and appeared in the scientific journal Cancer. ![]() Two studies published in the journals "Cancer Research" and the "Journal Of Nutrition" by researchers at the Beckman Research Institute in California, found that mice fed diets containing 5 to 10% blueberry powder had significantly reduced growth and spread of their aggressive triple negative breast cancer cells. These type of breast cancer cells are highly resistant to chemotherapy and account for about 10% of all breast cancer cases. ![]() A study published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry by scientists at Texas A&M Agrilife Research, USA, found that breast cancer metastasis had been inhibited by treatments that make use of simple peach extract. Laboratory tests discovered that compounds in the peaches were beneficial to stopping the metastasis of breast cancer in mice. How Is Chinese Dietary Therapy Different To Western Nutrition And Why Is It So Useful ? ...18/5/2018
![]() ( Reading Time – Approximately Four To Five Minutes ). There is archaeological evidence to show that the Chinese have been studying foods and herbs for well over three thousand years. During that time, they refined and perfected a great system. It is entirely different to the Western way of counting calories and dividing our foods into groups of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. It is instead very practical and useful in altering states and conditions, and even in treating and resolving illnesses in your body. Once you understand the Chinese method, you can start to see why there are many flaws in current Western nutritional theories. The Western approach is nearly always to break foods down into smaller and smaller isolated chemicals, which are then categorized into similar groups. When you do this many elements start to appear to have the same qualities. However on the bigger level, the problem with this is quite clear. There have been many studies showing the benefits of drinking green tea in helping to both prevent cancer and to help in various ways during its treatment. From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, green tea is very important in helping to treat cancer. I will discuss in detail why it is so in a future blog. But before we can get to that, I would like to talk about one particular green tea which is worthy of an extra mention ... ![]() Matcha is a tea from Japan which is made from finely ground green tea leaves. It is centuries old. The traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony centers around the preparation and consumption of Matcha tea. Buddhists in Japan have also used it for hundreds of years to help them focus during their meditations. As you can see from the picture below, it is not simply brewed like a regular cup of tea, but after being measured into a cup, it is whisked to produce a frothy foam topping. ![]() Today, in Japan it is often consumed for its numerous health benefits. When we drink other green teas we are just getting the nutrients that are released from the leaves into the flavoured hot water in the cup. But when you consume matcha green tea you are drinking the entire ground up leaves of the plant; because of this you are receiving far more anti-oxidants and nutrients than regular green tea provides. Matcha is packed full of anti-oxidants which help to clean and detox the body. It is reported to have more than seven times the number of anti-oxidants as regular green tea. Along with this extra high dose of anti-oxidants, Matcha has also been found to strongly boost energy ... In a study in the American Society of Clinical Nutrition, it was found to increase energy levels by an extra 35 to 45 per cent in people who drank it daily. ![]() This increased energy has a good effect on the mind, to create a feel good mood and increase concentration levels. The energy it produces feels more like a calm strength from having a good nights sleep rather than the over stimulated wound up buzz sensation of having too much coffee. Another study found that it was helpful in curbing appetite and reducing the weight of those who drank it. It itself is almost calorie free. It has also been shown to aid in reducing cholesterol and therefore helps with keeping the cardio vascular system clean and in good shape. The Japanese love it so much that they even use it to flavour and dye foods, to produce everything from green noodles to sweets to cakes. Matcha can help in the treatment of cancer by keeping your energy generally stronger.
This can help to uplift your mood and will also provide more energy for your immune system to create natural killer cells which attack cancer cells. It can also help to remove wastes and toxins from your body which have been shown to be connected to creating cancer cells and to feeding them. Our aim in the "Beat Cancer" category of this blog will be to build up an arsenal of natural weapons which will each add to your ability to prevent or to help to defeat cancer. So my advice here, is to include a cup of this health boosting tea into your daily diet. Adding a cup of this into your daily regime should be a very easy thing to do. ![]() White rice is a great food. It is a major source, perhaps the best, of good healthy food energy. In the West, people mistakenly throw white rice in with other highly processed white foods like bread. They claim that it too has as equally unhealthy properties as these others. But this is not the case at all. White rice is still basically the same on the inside as brown rice is. It has just had minor adjustments, such as the outer brown fibrous husk being removed and then the grain being polished into a shiny or dull white grain. The Chinese character for energy “Qi”, is made up of symbols for rice (food) and air. Rice simply provides great energy for the entire body, mind and spirit. It is a huge part of most Asian diets. With some people consuming it as much as four times a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner and then also even as snacks and sweets in-between. You can mix rice with most meals. You can turn it into healthy porridges and soups. It is a wonderful base food. Now you are probably wondering why I keep mentioning white rice instead of brown rice, which in the West they keep saying is healthier for you ... ( Reading Time – Approximately Four To Five Minutes ). This article is adapted from information in my book "Superior Health: The Secrets Of The Chinese And Eastern Way". ![]() Chinese Medicine, has studied in great detail, foods and herbs for over three and a half thousand years of recorded history. Over that time it has refined, very logical, well developed approaches to understanding foods and their actions in the body. One of these methods is the Five Flavours. They are sweet, salty, spicy, bitter and sour. Each taste has a very different reaction in the body, producing very different results. I will discuss in detail all these flavors eventually in this blog. Generally, in small amounts, the tastes have a beneficial reaction. Whereas in large amounts they can disturb the body and throw it off course, even producing illnesses in it. By simply manipulating these flavors in your diet it can also help to resolve and even cure many ailments. For example, if the body becomes too toxic, you will need to take in more foods that detoxify until you become clean again on the inside. After that the body should be able to function properly again and whatever ailment initially caused by the toxins will most likely fade away and disappear. |
