"If we don't fell grateful with what we already have,
what makes us think we will be happy with more ?" ~ Unknown Weight loss journeys often involve a maze of confusing diets, expensive supplements, and potentially harmful pharmaceuticals. However, looking East can offer a holistic, natural, and time-tested approach to managing weight with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This ancient practice, with a history of over 4,000 years, offers a range of herbs and treatments that can support weight loss efforts, improve overall health, and promote well-being. TCM practitioners use herbs, acupuncture, dietary therapy, therapeutic heat lamps, moxa, QiGong and other modalities to detox the body, restore balance, enhance metabolism, and support overall health. "Your whole idea about yourself is borrowed
- borrowed from those who have no idea about who they are themselves." ~ Osho Anxiety and depression, two of the most common mental health conditions, can significantly impact our lives. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) provides a holistic approach that has shown great results for thousands of years in the treatment of these two ailments. It is very safe and doesn’t cause any side effects when performed by a fully qualified practitioner. In TCM, anxiety and depression are often attributed to imbalances in the body. These imbalances can lead to the manifestation of symptoms such as worry, irritability, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and sadness etc. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) continue to be the world's leading cause of mortality, claiming approximately one-third of all lives lost to illnesses annually. While Western medicine offers a range of interventions, exploration into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) presents an exciting avenue for treating many conditions affecting the heart. In Asia (China, Japan, Korea etc.), Chinese herbs are often prescribed in hospitals and by doctors for ailments such as chronic heart failure. They are seen there as very effective and are believed to produce little or no side effects. Often offering patients a higher quality of life. Contrary to most people’s understanding of Chinese medicine, it is in fact Chinese Herbal Medicine and not Acupuncture that is the most widely used part of the Traditional Chinese Medical system. Chinese Herbal Medicine dates back thousands of years, with the first recognised textbook, the Shen Nong Ben Cao, written on it in the first century BC. As far back as humanity existed in China, Chinese herbalists began to experiment on themselves and their patients. And over the millennia through their direct experience and gathered knowledge of millions of human trials they discovered which herbs were toxic and could not be used, and which others were beneficial in the elimination of illnesses. They also discovered a multitude of herbs for strengthening and prolonging the life of the human body and mind. Before pharmaceutical corporations discovered there was great profits to be had in the selling of drugs, doctors in Western Medicine used to rely on foods and herbs to create cures in their patients. The founding father of Western Medicine - Hippocrates even famously stated “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”. As the Chinese see food as a weaker version of herbs, they have always used foods as a way of healing simple (and sometimes more complex) ailments; and of promoting general good health and strength in the body. Chinese Medicine is very different to Western Medicine. For starters, it is thousands of years older and has been safely used and perfected on billions of people all over Asia over its long existence. It still exists today for only one reason, that is it works and works exceedingly well. If this were not true it would have been dismissed and replaced by the advent of Western technologically advanced medicines. It has not been, as in practice many people still find it to be more effective than Western methods. "Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring." ~ Oscar Wilde Acupuncture has been used for well over three thousand years in China. If you visited China today you would often see it used alongside other Chinese and Western Medical treatments in modern technologically advanced Chinese hospitals and clinics. It is one of the safest forms of medicine. The occassional side effect is usually only minor (perhaps a bruise); whereas everyone is aware of the multitude of side effects, many serious and some deadly that can come from the western medical system. From both short and long term drug side effects to mishaps in hospitals, operations and medical procedures. |
