So far we have talked about how internal heat can damage your body and the types of symptoms to look for to show that your body is overheating.
In this last part of the series, I will tell you some of the things you can do to reduce the levels of heat, and to bring your body and mind back into a more harmonious and healthy state.
Firstly let’s look at three of the most common ways which lead to the body overheating and causing problems on the inside; in areas like the brain, organs and tissues …

Firstly let’s look at three of the most common ways which lead to the body overheating and causing problems on the inside; in areas like the brain, organs and tissues …
1) Diet – Heat can come about through the consumption of two different flavors of food. They are spicy and sweet foods.
Spicy, pungent, aromatic foods create heat by causing molecules and cells to move more rapidly. As they move they generate more heat. It is easy to see this reaction, all you need to do is to start exercising and you will soon find yourself hot and sweaty. In simple terms, more movement causes more heat.
If you sniff spicy or aromatic foods, you can nearly feel a rush of intense aroma moving up your nose and into your head.
When you chew them you can feel your whole mouth become more alive and begin to tingle from the movement they are causing.
The types of food we are talking about here include foods such as chili, garlic, turmeric, and other exotic spices; and also aromatic coffee and even alcohol.

It is easy to feel the heat generated by alcohol. If you get a cold glass filled with whiskey and a couple of ice cubes; as soon as you knock it back and it mingles with your cells, you will feel heat begin to spread right across your chest.
The second type of flavor to cause heat is the sweet taste.
There is constant movement inside your body; everything from mental thoughts, to the movement of your heart and blood, to the activity of each individual cell. All this movement uses energy, and energy in turn produces heat.
Now if we think of the heart beating, if you consume a very sugary drink, all that sticky sugar is now binding the movement of your blood. So the heart now has to push more forcefully to keep the blood circulating at the right speed throughout the body. That extra force generates more heat.
Every other organ and cell will also have to push harder to accomplish their jobs through this sticky sugar or any glue like fats. All this extra work leads to a build up of heat in your system.
Sweet foods also create heat by releasing stored energy from the sun into your body when you eat them. As foods become more and more ripe in the sun, they also become more sweet tasting. This absorbed energy is released into you after eating them.
2) Another main cause of heat in the body is through stress and anxiety. The main emotions involved are anger, frustration and irritability.
Similar to the way sweet foods restrict the free movement and activities of cells and organs throughout your body, anger too causes tension and prevents movement.

Similar to the way sweet foods restrict the free movement and activities of cells and organs throughout your body, anger too causes tension and prevents movement.
When you get angry or frustrated you will notice that your muscles begin to clench and tighten. Your neck, shoulders, chest, abdomen and most other parts begin to tense up. This clamping, squeezing action now begins to impede the movement and activity of the organs and cells in your body. So they generate more force and push harder to keep things going. This intensification of activity starts to generate lots of heat within you.
The next time you get angry, observe the heat that’s generated inside of you. Feel it in your face and your head. Even take a look in the mirror and see how the heat has made your face become red.
Or picture in your mind a cartoon of an angry man, where an artist has depicted them with a bright red face, bulging, throbbing veins on their foreheads, and perhaps steam coming out of their ears.
3) The last main way excessive internal heat arises is through a lack of cooling elements in the body.
Just as some foods can cause you to overheat, other ones can cause your system to cool down. These foods usually contain heavy proteins and minerals. (How they cause a cooling effect will be clearly explained in detail in a future blog.)
If your body does not have enough of these cooling elements then there is nothing there to balance the energetic side of you which creates heat as a by-product. When this heat is not balanced and restrained, it can get out of control and overheat your system.

To summarize …
Spicy, pungent and aromatic foods and drinks cause lots of movement and activity, which creates instant heat.
Sticky, binding, glue like foods, trap movement which causes the body to retaliate by increasing force to push activities through, this generates heat.
Sweet foods can also release extra stored energy they contain into your system.
Anger, stress, frustration, anxiety and irritability can all generate simmering to intense levels of heat and pressure.
And a lack of cooling heavy particles such as proteins and minerals can allow the hot energetic side of your body to become unbalanced, allowing the heat to build up and get out of control.
So if you suffer from overheating as described in parts one and two of this series, then I suggest you make some or all of the following changes in your diet and lifestyle.
1) In the long term, learn how to cope with and manage stress and anxiety.
Particularly learn and practice ways to relieve yourself of tension caused by frustration and anger. ( Stay tuned to this blog and over time you will be given plenty of ways on how to deal with stress and these unhealthy emotions.)
2) For a more immediate effect, change your diet.
Reduce intake of the following heat generating foods. (These foods and drinks are all very important; and all of them deserve and will receive a blog of their own to highlight their individual properties.) In the meantime this is just a quick list of them …
Alcohol, coffee, cigarettes; common red, black or dark teas; bright coloured and exotic spices such as chili, turmeric, garlic, mustard, cloves, black pepper, cumin and so on. Onions, red, green and yellow peppers. Sweets, sugars and honey. Glue or sludge like fats and hard fats.
3) Include more cooling foods such as vegetables (other than onions and peppers, which do have minerals in them but they also have spicy hot properties too ! ).
4) Add more cleansing foods, which have a cooling effect by removing stickiness and toxins from your body, and thus allowing organs and cells to operate less intensely and produce less heat.
These include bitter green tea, and fruits such as pomegranate, grapes and berries. For more information on cleansing foods, see this blog – How To Use Simple Foods To Really Detox ...
